A Poll about Public Health and Interest

When does something stop being what it is and become trash? Take food, for example. Suppose that you have a lunch that has been packed and somehow it ends up in the trash. Is it still edible or is it considered trash? Let's take that one step further. Suppose your lunch, still in the bag, was thrown away not into a trash can but into a dumpster. Would you retrive it out of the dumpster and eat it or would that be too gross? Would the five second rule be applicable here? Would it have to sit in the dumpster for a certain length of time before it became trash?
Your opinions are vital in this question. Please respond and spread the word through xanga. The more opinions, the better and more truthful the results.

Let's say the lunch in question is sandwiches individually placed in sealed plastic baggies and chips in individual manufacturer's packaging and perhaps some apples or carrots also in plastic baggies.  And let's say the whole lunch is in a grocery store plastic bag knotted at the opening.  And let's say that the whole sack was in the dumpster for no more than 2 minutes ON THE TOP OF THE HEAP.

That food is still edible.
